St. Charles Parish School Students Wait & Prepare This Advent
It is with joyful anticipation that we prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ through the season of Advent. To mark this season of waiting, the school staff has planned some special activities within the school community.
First, we plan to bookend the week with a silent entrance on Monday mornings and silent dismissals on Fridays.
What this means is that as students enter school on Monday mornings during Advent (Dec. 4, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18), the lights will be dimmed to remind students to remain silent as they prepare themselves for the day. Teachers will hold battery-operated candles and encourage students to complete their normal morning routines in silence.
On Friday afternoons (Dec. 8, Dec. 15 and Dec. 22), students will leave their classrooms in silence. We encourage students to maintain this silence until they are in the car or on the bus.
The teachers will prepare the students for this Advent routine and we will post reminder signs near our school entrances.
Thank you for supporting students in these times of silence to pause, wait and prepare our hearts for the birth of the Lord. The first silent entrance will be on Monday morning, Dec. 4.
Also during Advent students in Grades 3 through 8 will participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Friday, Dec. 15.
We will attend an All-School Mass on Friday, Dec. 8 for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and also on Thursday, Dec. 21. These Masses begin at 8:30 am.
Our students also will be involved in an All-School Service Project during the Advent Spirit Party on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Finally, our 2nd and 3rd Graders are busy rehearsing for the Living Nativity Play that they will present on Friday, Dec. 22 in the church beginning at 10:30 am. You don't want to miss that performance.
We look forward to much prayer time during Advent. Thank you for joining us in this time of preparation and waiting.
